For the greatest benefit, we encourage you to read the entire report to help determine how this particular property fits into your plans for home ownership. Many find it beneficial to review the findings with their real estate agent to gain perspective and decide how to proceed.

How you choose to use the inspection findings is up to you. Some of our clients use the inspection as an educational, get-to-know-the-house experience while others want to know if the scope of future maintenance and repairs is within their ability and budget. Others prioritize major issues and discuss one or more of these with the seller, who may (or may not) be willing to negotiate the costs or repairs.

However you proceed, it’s in your best interest to look at the home as objectively as possible. Every house—no matter how new or old—will have issues. It’s how a particular house fits into your current property search that matters.
